A New Passion for Purple

Four years ago, a client hired us to design the first floor of her home.  She told us that her favorite colors were purple and silver.  Now, we are used to designing for clients in colors and tastes that might not suit our own but this was a tough one for us.  Both Joann and I just did NOT like the color purple.  At the time, purple was not on the main stage so selecting current fabrics and furnishings for our client was difficult at times.  Regardless, the project turned out fantastic and Joann and I  had adopted a soft spot in our heart for the color purple.Fast forward to 2009, and we must admit that our disdain for the color purple has all but vanished only to be replaced by a new passion for this spectacular hue!  Our love for this color has only just begun as the trend forecasters tell us that the color purple will be strutting it's glorious tones all over the fashion and merchandising world in the next 2 years.Sherwin Williams has a colormix group for 2010 called "Refreshed".  Their color marketing group says, "Happy spaces are here again, bringing fresh florals, bright juicy colors, and exuberant combinations. It's the kaleidoscopic spirit of the 60's married to the jewel tones of the 80's, with a global twist."  One of the colors in this mix is "Verve Violet" SW6979.  (Stay tuned - I'm painting a chair this color). Our recent October trip to the International Furniture Market in Highpoint, NC only solidified all that we have read and heard about the explosion of purple.  We've come a long way in our relationship with the color purple and it seems it's just the beginning.....Cyan Design Showroom Entrance at HighpointA chair at the Sam Moore Highpoint ShowroomRug Market rugs as shown in HighpointPablo Mekis Artisan PillowsGuild MasterCorporate Art Services
