A Great Day Playin' Hooky

Joann and I have been blessed to have been inundated with design work this Fall.  Today we decided to play hooky (well kinda) and treat ourselves to some good 'ol design inspiration away from the daily grind.  We started off at ADAC (Atlanta Decorative Arts Center) to listen to a keynote presentation by Margaret Russell, Editor in Chief of one of our fave publications - Elle Decor.  To me, she epitomizes worldly, intelligent, witty chic.  Atlanta was her first stop on her book signing tour for her new book Style and Substance - The Best of Elle Decor (yes, it is already wrapped and under the Christmas tree for MOI).   The images in her book transcend 20 years of Elle Decor and are wonderful!Next, we moved on to the Atlanta Holiday House benefiting Save a Smile Foundation.  Now, I have to admit.  I'm a big snob when it comes to decorator showhouses.  I just don't like showhouses that are so over the top that the rooms negate an average persons ability to relate in any way to the space.  I also don't like showhouses that don't flow or who's budget dwindles as you get to the third floor and it's SO obvious.  Not this house! This $14.5 million home built by Steven West Custom Homes, LLC was brilliantly collaborated.  Each space was in tune to the next and all had a feel that was warm and rustic but still very elegant.  Here are a few of the holiday touches that we loved.
