Goodbye "Builder Beige"!
Come on, admit it, you've lived with "builder beige" paint color in your home for several different reasons. What we hear the most is: 1. You're scared to pick another color, 2. You're afraid of the cost especially if you make a mistake or 3. You think your home will have a better resale value if the walls are "neutral".
Sorry folks, these are not good enough reasons to live in blahness! We aren't saying your home needs a bold color splashed on the walls in every room. Even neutral colors can be "interesting" but not necessarily "builder beige". Color evokes a spirit and personality in your home that gives energy and peace to all who enter. Here are a few rooms that depict the power of color.
This soft blue invokes a feeling of calmness, tranquility and peace. One of our favorites is Benjamin Moore HC-143 "Wythe Blue"
The pink in this room gives a feeling of happiness, cheerfulness and whimsy. As you can see in this photo, it's not strictly used in a little girl's room. Sherwin Williams SW6591 called "Amaryllis" is a drop dead, gorgeous color
Green (almost a favorite for everyone) gives a feeling of peace, serenity and relaxation. One of our favorite kitchen colors is Sherwin Williams SW6423 "Ryegrass"
There's no denying yellow is bright, cheerful and happy. The color throughout my entire common area of my home is Porter 6783-2 Raw Silk
Red is gutsy, dramatic and the color of love and intense warmth. For a true, rich red go with Benjamin Moore 1309 "Moroccan Red"
Seriously, walk into the rooms of your home and see how they make you "feel". A home's aura should pleasantly tickle all of the senses.
1. Sight - is it beautiful to look at?
2. Hearing - is there relaxing music or the sounds of birds chirping or is it just complete relaxing silence?
3. Touch - Are the fabrics and furnishings so scrumptious you want to touch them?
4. Smell - Does your house smell clean and fresh?
5. Taste - Does that pink room look like sherbet, you can almost taste it?
After all is said and done, “Our five senses are incomplete without the sixth - a sense of humor.”
