Thanks to the work of the GPP (Georgia Production Partnership), entertainment tax incentives (30%) have made Georgia one of the top five states in the country for movie and television production.  In honor of this, here comes The Next Cool Thing - an extraordinary 3-day event that was held this weekend.

The event was held in a 90,000 sq. ft. warehouse showcasing fabulous design as hundreds of interior designers, film industry and art department professionals, builders, suppliers and local manufacturers recreated movie and tv sets that reflect their expertise. (Think DIFFA but movie sets instead of table settings).There were SO many amazing sets it was overwhelming but here are some of our faves. Starting with our good friend Kass Wilson of Wallstreat Studio who designed Avatar along with Labs Inc., Malone Design/Fabrication and Visionary Mural Company.

We are fans of Tradions in Tile and we were very impressed with their adaptation of Psycho.

We LOVE designing windowing treatments so this adaptation of 27 Dresses by Cherry Lane Drapery and Celeste Alexander Spaces was a hit with us. Kudos to them for creating the air brushed dresses that promoted their set design!

"Let them eat cake!" - Mary Antoinette was a fun set design by Elegant Additions and Gloriosa Events.

We thought our friend Kerry Howard's rendition of Mommy Dearest was one of the most creative in the house. Check out his use of hangers not only for the "walls" but for the hand made chandelier. He created his set in conjunction with the well known Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams.

The Moulin Rouge set was huge and very well done by Brad Brooks, Northside Tool Rental and TLC Rents. This shot is actually from the back of the stage. Joann looked liked she belonged on set decked out in her vintage mink.

The set of Project Runway was a perfect choice for Award Fabrics.

Our very good friend Stacie Stamper, owner of FYI Design Center pulled together an amazing cast of area vendors to create the set for League of Extraordinary Gentleman. We were very comfortable in the 1966 white Rolls Royce donated by Special Day Limos.

The entire perimeter of this event was scattered with vintage clutter delivered by our friends at Design Logistics and organized by Mark Sunderland Interiors.  How creative is this massive clock comprised of little vintage chairs and lunchboxes?!?

If you know us, you know that we have a magnetic pull towards anything pink. So of course we LOVED the Beverly Hillbillies - a gorgeous set created by 23 Atlanta talents including Vision Stairways and Millwork who designed the lucite spindles on the staircase.

If they repeat this wonderful event next year, I already have my movie selection made. We shall see!
