Serenbe = Serenity + Being Together

My entire family flew into Atlanta this past holiday to spend a few days gettin' down with nature (quite luxuriously actually) at one of my favorite getaway places in Atlanta - Serenbe.   Serenbe is a 1,000 acre community about 30 minutes from the airport. The Serenbe community is a national model for the future of balanced development in the U.S.—focusing on land preservation, agriculture, energy efficiency, green building, walkability, high densitybuilding, arts and culture, and community living for multiple generations.

Thirteen of us stayed on the grounds where the Inn at Serenbe is located. We chose the five bedroom cabin called the Lakehouse where the furnishings are rustic but comfortable, the beds divine and the bathrooms filled with my favorite EO Fresh Lavender products!

I hired Oana Hogrefe to photograph our family on the grounds. There are endless photo opps. (I will share highlights of her work in an upcoming post).

It was a nice break in the daily grind - no makeup, no clients, no kids stressing over  final exams. I actually took time to lie on the trampoline with my 5 year old niece Ella and stare at the clouds. When was the last time I did something like that?

Feeding the sheep, goats, horses, chickens and baby pigs wasn't just fun for the kids! My nephew Aidan was front and center to help Farmer Chris feed all the animals.

Three days prior to our arrival, someone had decided to abandon (3) German Shephard pups on the grounds of Serenbe. The guys on the farm where caring for them. Thanks to the folks at Serenbe who helped us find a vet on a holiday, and a Delta Cargo flight, one of the the pups now lives on Cape Cod with my sister and her kids.

Guess what her name is?
