On the Hunt for my Screened Porch at Scott's Antique Market
I'm putting a screened in porch on my back deck as we speak. My husband and I are SO excited to expand our home to the outdoors. I may never come inside!
But oh the pressure - I want to design this space to be a place that is inviting and has a specific feeling of zen. I want it to feel interior but be exterior - does that make sense?
The first decision - furniture that is worthy of the outdoor elements but is NAPABLE. I don't think that's a word but you get what I'm saying - seriously comfortable for spring time naps. So here's what we selected from Lee Industries Outdoor Collection - the Agave Sofa (and it's 2 sister chairs). P.S. That's a washable slipcover!
Next up? Outdoor pillows from my friend Lare McCreary of Stuart Lawrence Design.
So I hit Scott's this past weekend to add some unexpected touches to my new porch. I don't want that "Rooms to Go" looking porch.
My porch is only 12' wide so I don't have room for a big, wide coffee table. I bought this bench for $150 made by a woman from an old barn her son tore down. Her biz is called UpCycle Barnwood Tables. A good story + made by a woman + good lookin' + cheap = in my car! All I need is a place to put feet, a drink or an iPad - so this does the trick!
Drinking is key at our house. So which cooler? I think the iron one fits my vibe....
In the corner by Mike's new Weber grill I need a pub table and bar stools. I hit the jackpot with my new buddy Frederick Knight at Georgia Harvest Tables! Made by hand + steel and recycled wood + swivel barstools + customized to the size I need = in my car!!
These cuties were only $45 each but not my color scheme or I would have thrown these in the car too.
I didn't want to buy art quite yet but I loved this painting on glass inside an old window. This is the kind of stuff that can stay outdoors people!
Stay tuned cuz this is going to be one good lookin' porch! I'm just getting started:)
