"M" is for MERCHANDISING
Joann and I have just spent the last several days trudging through the spectacular showrooms and halls of Highpoint Market Week. With so many people to meet, places to be and products to see, clever merchandising is like getting a big boost of vitamins to keep us going!
Wesley Hall is always one of our favorite showrooms. Who knew paper origami could be this spectacular? A massive wall of origami hats greeted us at 8am one morning. A perfect partner with the gregarious fabrics and styles signature to Wesley Hall.
The Global Views showroom is guaranteed eye candy year after year. This year, the showroom was drunk on yellow, orange and turquoise. New this market - wall mounted bowls that make wonderfully dynamic art greeted us at the entrance. And how about those chairs?
We all know that books are a key accessory. But how about books covered in bright leathers and animal hides brilliantly displayed on a gigantic vintage bookcase? That's A LOT of personality in one little book!
How should we grab peoples attention as they walk by? Maybe we should wrap our entire booth in tin foil so our magnificent glass pieces really pop! YUP it worked - we were tired and done for the day but we couldn't help but stop.
The Outdura Fabric Fashion Show was truly remarkable!
When DK Living has christmas balls hanging from chain links in front of an amazing purple wall, you just have to stop in!
Drawer pulls adhered to a painted wall? COOL!
We were busy walking PAST Halo Styles when out of the corner of her eye, Joann saw this clever display of vintage typewriters on the wall in the back of the showroom. We had to go in!
We are big fans of the Natural Light showroom. This year, owner and designer Jo Ann Hollinsworth has displayed the most amazing lamps and shades available in custom pantone and Benjamin Moore colors!!
Ceramic tables and lamps were HOT at Emissary. I'll take one of each please!
The Global Views showroom wins awards every year for it's unique merchandising.
Of course there's nothing as simple as a well appointed room. Wesley Hall has merchandising down pat!
Or well appointed details - as shown here on a Century sofa.
Fresh flowers will catch anybody's eye. Paragon Art displayed one of my favorite bouquets.
We get a little excited at times. Like Kelly drooling over this turquoise sofa at C.R. Laine. Now that's a showroom to visit for some merchandising inspiration!
