Visions for 2013

For the first time EVER - I didn't travel at Christmas this year and it has afforded me many luxuries - one being that my 2013 vision board is finished! I've blogged about my love affair with vision boards before so if you'd like to read one - click HERE.  2013 marks my 6th board and I think it's my best one yet!

I am a firm believer that announcing your dreams, goals and ambitions to the universe - no matter how lofty or obscure - gets that karma juju pumpin'.

the best

Every year I collect a huge pile of magazines  (I like the glossy images and colors for my board) and get a new black foam core board. I use my old little Creative Memories scrapbooking cutter (yes I'm very OCD - gotta have perfectly straight edges to start the New Year off just right) and adhesive spray.

Macy thought the entire process was extremely boring....

The good news is that my almost 19 year old daughter Emory was in to it (ya gotta start them young - goal setting is a crucial part of life!)

A little lesson here - these don't have to necessarily be goals and dreams for the upcoming year. Sometimes goals are so lofty that the karma takes a while to come around. Back in 2010, I got a wild idea to put a picture of the acclaimed journalist Christiane Amanpour reporting on Aids orphans in Haiti in the hopes that maybe one day I'd get the guts to go do some philanthropic work like she does. I never thought that a mere two years later I'd be working in one of the poorest villages in Guatemala.

dreams

Also keep in mind that everything happens in it's own time FOR A REASON.

So here are my visions for 2013 -

board

To elaborate on a few so you get the idea:

1. The Sur Le Table image is to encourage me to continue signing up for cooking lessons with my husband (we did this over the holiday and and had a blast - we felt like we were on the set of Food Network).

2. The picture of the Guatemalan boy is to inspire me (and others) to continue supporting CRI and helping in the village of Labor de Falla and the new Mimi's House orphanage.

3. The photo of the house is my dream of owning a quaint cottage in Charleston some day.

4. The "I love your blog" image is in hopes of Kandrac & Kole's Blog becoming a cult following:)

5. I have a quote on my bulletin board in my office that says, "You are only as good as what you've been exposed to, so see as much of the world as you can." So the photo of the passport and iPhone is a reminder of my desire to travel (especially to Europe with my husband and kids).

6. The House Beautiful magazine cover (this is a repeat) reiterates to me that Joann and I need to trust that our hard work will pay off and be nationally published.

7. The photo of the college campus and the word "accepted" is a small prayer to myself that my youngest daughter Riley is accepted to a college of her choosing this year.

This took me a long afternoon to do - I really encourage you to do the same - even if it's a little board with just a few inspirations on it. When you are finished, put it in a highly visual place so you are held accountable to the aspirations you have set for yourself.

Happy New Year!
