The 2013 Cathedral Antiques Show Inspiration House
I was lucky to be invited as a blogger to "preview" the 2013 Cathedral Antiques Show Inspiration House. I can see why it was named the "Inspiration House". It was one of the best show houses I've ever been to. I kept saying over and over how I could really "live" in a house like this. Check out a portion of the foyer designed by Brooke Merrill Home.
Immediately to the right when you enter the home is the Library designed by Summer Loftin of Summer Loftin Antiques.
I could have easily spent an hour in this room. There were so many layers of amazing items and well thought out vignettes. This room was also an inspiration for me as we are working with a client right now who has some amazing taxidermy. Check this out:
Summer used a gorgeous robins egg blue on the wall and then stamped the antlers and her company logo with gold paint!
Moving on we entered the Men's Bathroom designed by Karen Ferguson of Harrison Design Associates. This was a small space but Karen made great use of it.
She used a gorgeous linen wallcovering and included these vintage framed statesmen. What a coincidence that we sourced these same prints for our new client!
Do you notice the color of the toilet? It's called Cashmere by Kohler. It blended so beautifully and didn't have that stark white glare!!
We headed towards the hallway and came upon a fun painted door and some snazzy floor covering:
After entering I was so excited to see my friend Dayka Robinson of Dayka Robinson Designs who was the co-chair on the Room Service Atlanta project.
I loved her choice of citron, gray and black! She threw in some vintage photography as well.
As you walk upstairs to the "apartment" bedroom and bath, you can't believe that Dayka and Bryan A. Kirkland of Bryan Alan Kirkland Designs did not know what colors the other was using. He really did a beautiful job using a combination of citron and purple.
This mohair chair was to die for!!
As we move downstairs I was excited to see my WILD AND CRAZY friend Sherry Hart of Design Indulgence Blog, who partnered with Lori May of Lori May Interiors to design the Stone Room.
When Sherry first posted the "before" picture of the room on her blog, I was really worried.
I should have known they wouldn't disappoint. The room is amazing! I couldn't get a good shot for two reasons. 1. We weren't allowed to take "full" shots of the room and 2. There were so many people ooohing and aaahing I couldn't squeeze myself in. Every time I tried to get a photo of the room, Sherry kept trying to get in the shot!!
OK, so I managed to get in two vignettes of the room.
One of my other favorite spaces was the Living Room designed by David Ecton and Lance Jackson of Parker Kennedy Living.
This C.R. Laine sofa was amazing!
One of the most "unique" spaces was the Boardroom designed by Jennifer Reiner and Robert White of Reiner/White Design Studio
The designers were disappointed they didn't have a fireplace in this room so they created a makeshift one using photos of vintage fireplaces and stacking logs below!!
Look closely at hese next two photos: They both have the "original" upholstery on them!
I highly recommend a visit to see this home. It is not your typical, over the top gigantic show house. It has a warm, homey feel to it along with some beautiful antiques, modern items, and beautiful artwork. Click here for show dates and hours. The beneficiary to this home is Refugee Family Services.
