Why I Love Being an Interior Designer

I received this email a couple of weeks ago along with a donation to our Room Service Atlanta project for the Girl's Cottage at the United Methodist Children's Home.

"Hi ladies,

It's a wonderful thing to do for the girls that live there.  Who knows, it could change their lives and get them interested in interior design as a career.  Also, just to feel loved and cared for, will be something many of them have never experienced.

My parents were group home houseparents when I was little, and I have a (foster) brother that came to live with us when he was 15.  We went from a family of all girls to having a sweet brother;  and he went from living in an orphanage to having a real family. After high school, he joined the navy, went to college to become a chef and retired as a Captain 4 years ago.  Now he has a successful home inspection business which compliments his wife's real estate business.  Sometimes, people just need a little hope!
Have a great day!
Amanda"

It's hard to put into words the emotion I felt after reading that.  More than anything it made me feel "grateful".  Grateful that there are people who care, and grateful that I am in a position to help and be a part of Room Service Atlanta.  Interior design is not just about making a home "beautiful", it's about creating surroundings that make a house a "home".
