My Laundry Room Makeover

Yes, I have another home improvement project in the works. Remember when I shared details about my new screened porch project? Well, when we did that project, we took out a door which has made for a new challenge on the other side.

This is what we affectionately call in our office "project CREEP". I mean, I can't leave this big patch of sheetrock here RIGHT? This is what you see when you first come in to my house from the garage (the laundry room is to the left).

So I think this would be a PERFECT location for a mud tree to hold my purse, keys, coats from the day, shoes etc. My contractor is going to build me something like this one I saw on Houzz.com by Lake Shore Designs.  I'm going to keep the walls black (like in my kitchen) but the mud tree will be a fresh white with black hardware.

There's nothing better than creating STORAGE and FUNCTION in your home.

So I might as well just keep on going into my laundry room.....

Yes, it's a Saturday and I'm doing mega laundry.  See that crate of cleaning rags on the top right?  I was trying to put away clean rags this morning and that crate fell on my head. No lie. I am SICK AND TIRED of that stupid, builder grade wire shelving.

Goodbye bead board, window treatments and orange paint! It's time for a fresher, cleaner, look.

Starting with some 42" high, 18" deep (yes - they must be deep enough for all my beach towels) white cabinets.

Oh happy day! I've wanted cabinets in my laundry room for 17 years!

I can't believe I still have the original linolium floor in this laundry room. Not for long. I'm thinking maybe a faux marble porcelain tile for the floor.

I found some that is really simple at Floor & Decor (and SUPER affordable).

I need a simple floor because I am totally in love with this Thibaut wallpaper from the Graphic Resource collection and I have to have it!

I spend ALOT of time in this room - don't you think it should be really happy?

I was all set with this light fixture from Shades of Light. It has (3) 100 watt bulbs - now that is bright!

But then I got an email today from Rejuvenation introducing their schoolhouse lights now available with LED bulbs.

My husband is so happy! He hates changing light bulbs so the LED option is a no brainer.  I can specify the base in black enamel so it ties in with the black walls in my kitchen.

I still have to select hardware and a cute rug......  Stay tuned for the final REVEAL!!
