Serenbe Designer Showhouse

Joann and I took advantage of a lovely fall day last Sunday and visited Serenbe for the last day of the Designer Showhouse sponsored by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. What a treat it was!

If you live in Atlanta and haven't visited Serenbe, put it on your calendar! Serenbe is pioneering a new community model that is connected to nature. It is a purposeful community where people live, work, learn and play in celebration of life's beauty.  The gorgeous homes, restaurants, art galleries, boutique shops, culinary workshops and festivals, music events, films, lectures, farmers market and more are set among acres of preserved forests and meadows with miles of nature trails.

I have visited Serenbe many times including a family reunion three years ago. You can read about my visits HERE and HERE.

It was so refreshing to go to a show house and see designers that aren't in all the usual Atlanta show houses. Each designer in this house did an incredible job. BRAVO!

Here are some of my personal highlights:

The footbridge to the home set the tone:

The living room designed by Melanie Millner was fantastic. I'm always taking note of furniture placement in a room. This space is jam packed with seating opportunities but never felt crowded.

There were several outdoor areas as one should expect at a Serenbe home! This space was designed by Hope Vanzant.

The Master Bedroom, designed by Yvonne McFadden was very tailored and sophisticated. I'm dying over the bedside lamps.

Note: bedside tables do NOT need to match. In this room, there was a desk on the left side. Perfect.

The master bath was serene.

The back hall designed by James Wheeler was expertly designed especially given the tight space. How great is that bench?

The foyer was designed by our good friend Kerry Howard. It was one of my favorite spaces in the house.  This was not an easy space to make spectacular but Kerry made it a show stopper.

The guest retreat designed by Karen Ferguson was another favorite. The grass cloth wallpaper enveloped the room and made it elegant and cozy. I loved the raw edges on the linen pillow cases. Notice how the upholstered headboard extends behind the bedside tables. Very cool.

The terrace level family room designed by Melanie Davis was a perfect reflection of the vibe of this home - urban, organic, stately and so handsome!

(This light fixture is to die for in my opinion.)

I have to admit that my favorite room in the house is the artists retreat by Niki Papadopoulos. You might look at it and think it's way too busy but when you were in the space it was very homey and perfectly done.

I love the gallery with it's eclectic mix of portraits and abstracts.

The artwork throughout the house was fabulous.

Afterwards, Joann and I strolled thru the little town of Serenbe and had a snack at the Blue Eyed Daisy.  We walked around to a back courtyard and found this!

Remember I wrote a blog on this concept of "Before I Die I Want To...."?? Anyway....

before I die

Joann and I wrote down our goals. Mine was "to visit Thailand".  Joann's was "to make a difference".

It was the perfect end to a really fun, fall day.
