Jeffrey Alan Marks for Kravet
When Joann and I were at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center last week for Discover ADAC, another highlight of our time there was hearing the designer Jeffrey Alan Marks (you might know him as one of the designers on Bravo's hit show Million Dollar Decorators) speak about his new fabric line, JAM Approved, for Kravet.
Not only is JAM extremely easy on the eyes, I love that he is laid back and humble despite being one of the top designers in the U.S. (Side note: He runs his design firm with just 6 people and insists that the office close at 4pm every day so that he and his staff can enjoy their California lifestyle and take time to surf, paddle board, hike, etc.)
Any designer that markets his/her fabrics with their yellow lab is a friend of mine. Crack me up that his dog crosses his feet like my Macy does.
I will admit that when we receive a new designer licensed collection from a fabric company I rarely love ALL the fabrics in the collection. I can honestly say that every single pattern in JAM's first collection for Kravet is one that I would put in a client's home. They are fantastic.
His collection is inspired by his life growing up in California and the fondness for the water and being outdoors that comes with that life.
One of my favorite patterns is Waterpolo inspired by a water polo net laid out in the pool (JAM played the sport in college).
Another of my favorites is an embroidered linen called Over Under Slate.
Jeffrey said that many of his clients don't like birds (huh??) so he created Branches with an elusion of birds (aka leaves) because he loves birds despite his clients tastes.
This pattern called Cilia in the Cyan color is a heavier weave suitable for upholstery inspired by water bubbles.
Cords in color grass is SO pretty in person. It is another embroidered linen that I will most definitely be using for window panels in a project soon.
Here are more of JAM's new fabrics on his surfboards and on his Converse sneakers. Gotta love it.
