One Room Challenge - Week 3!

Welcome to Week 3 of The Spring 2020 One Room Challenge and the next sneak peek at our podcast studio transformation. We chose this photo of us because this was the week of a few OH SH@@#% moments. Like good professional designers we took a deep breath and dealt with it!
Let’s review what we’ve accomplished in Week 1 and 2:
Completely purged and emptied the space (this was a ton of work!)
Decided on Sherwin Williams 6203 Spare White as our new color
Had the space professionally painted by our go to painters Verge & Associates
What we haven’t been sharing with you is that as soon as we were invited to participate in the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge we immediately selected our space and put together our vision board. We made this a priority because we needed to approach our Sponsors for customized product and give ourselves enough time for shipping during crazy Covid-19!
Last year Kandrac & Kole went thru the arduous exercise of rebranding with the help of Franki Durbin and Emory Kole Designs. Part of that process was coming up with new brand colors. These became the foundation of our podcast studio design.
Before we created our design, we focused on determining our needs for this space to function well.
A fresh, contemporary space with good sound absorption
Comfortable chairs for ourselves and guests of the podcast
A way to hide the design resources that needed to remain in the space (fabrics, tile and carpet samples)
A way to organize and hide our equipment wires
Larger microphones for more comfortable speaking posture
Artwork that would inspire and energize us
Statement lighting
And then a star was born!
We were fortunate to have amazing ORC sponsors to choose from. We even reached out to a few of our industry go-to’s and they quickly obliged! We are happy to report that once our design board was complete, every sponsor we reached out to said YES.
One of the first to collaborate with us was Kelly Aaron of NYC based Blueprint Lighting. We chose the 3-Arm Monarch Chandelier as our statement lighting. We chose a blush enamel color that fit our brand palette perfectly. This design is strongly influenced by both French and Italian Mid-Century Modernism and spoke to us right away! Isn’t she a beauty?
Next up… deciding on fabric and what to do with it…. but that’s for next week!
And those OH SH@##! moments? Don’t worry - there are more than one to share with you.
