The Top 5 Craziest Paint Color Names!!
As many of you already know Pantone has selected Emerald Green as the 2013 Color of the Year. The color emerald can mean different things to different people. For example this color by Valspar is called Stiletto.
Now how did the "color naming people" come up with that? I have done many a color consultation where a client will like the color I've selected and then will ask me the name of it and then change their mind because they don't like the sound of the name. I know there is some kind of psychology driving that.
Here's some that will really blow your mind........
Benjamin Moore - Elephants Breath
Farrow & Ball - Arsenic (walls below - Bright Bazaar Blog)
Farrow & Ball - Dead Salmon
Sherwin Williams - Obstinant Orange
Benjamin Moore - Raccoon Hollow - Venegas And Company
I've always wondered how these color names are selected. Mary Lawlor, manager of color marketing for Kelly-Moore Paints says in a typical year, a professional paint namer may be asked to come up with hundreds of new names — all checked against a master databank of paint names for originality.
Here are some other really random paint color names: Messenger Bag, Jogging Path, Cargo Pants, Squirrel Tail, Tippy Toes, Grandma’s Sweater, Kitten Whiskers, Going to the Chapel, Un-Teal We Meet Again, and Yin Yang.
