TOP 10 TRENDS FROM HIGHPOINT MARKET 2013
Here it is-
our official list of the TOP 10 TRENDS from High Point Market!
10. CLEAN, SIMPLE LINESModern style is making an impact on all aspects of design. We are seeing less of past season’s ornate and French inspired designs and more crisp clean lines for simplistic beauty! This Lewis Sofa from Younger Furniture is one of our favorites!
9. HIDEHide is HOT and it no longer belongs solely on the floor. It is being used in innovative new ways to give the traditionally masculine material a fresher feel. We’ve seen it all over this market, but our favorite new piece would have to be the Surya poufs!
8. LACQUERHigh gloss finishes have been making a comeback for a while now and this season they were in full force. There is no faster way to up the glam factor than to add a lacquer finish! From side tables to seating there are some funky pieces but these lacquer animal heads from Camilla House Imports have to be our favorite- we even style spotted them! See the rest of our "spots" on our Pinterest board.
7. SPOOL CHAIRSFretwork and detailing were used in unexpected ways all over High Point. From chair backs to side tables, there were hints of intricate detailing everywhere! One of our favorites were these spool chairs from CR Laine.
6. QUATREFOIL AND GREEK MOTIFSMotifs are the name of the game this season. From charmingly shaped Greek key legs to perfect quatrefoil hardware, the sophisticated use of these shapes were fantastic. The back of these chairs are a great statement piece for a less traditional dining room. You can find the Alexandra Side Chair at Hickory Chair.
5. FRETWORKWe’ve been crushing on fretwork detailing for a while (check out our Houzz Fretwork idea book HERE) and we are so excited to see it gaining popularity! We saw a lot of it on the backs of chairs and as detailing on bookcases. One of our favorite fretwork pieces is this breathtaking armchair from Taylor Burke Home. It comes in any custom color you can imagine.
4. ASIAN INSPIRATION From pagodas to Chinese red lacquer to the smallest detailing - the inspiration is undeniable. Our Houzz look book as some of our favorite finds of lighting, rugs, and furniture. These ultra-feminine pendants from our friends at Currey & Co were featured in the Moore Councill showroom-it's the perfect mix of styles!
3. LUCITE BASES Lucite is the new “it” finish. It adds a touch of modern to otherwise transitional pieces and greats a real "wow" factor. From table bases to table and chair legs, this material was all over the map! We LOVE how glam it looks! These lucite legs are a great update for a traditional tufted ottoman from Century Furniture.
2. BOLD COLORSNothing says spring like bright cheerful colors and this season’s market was a testament to that. Navy paired with just about any bright color is a preppy staple; try turquoise, coral, chartreuse, lilac, or Chinese red for the most bang for your buck! This cheerful vignette was right on point from the CR Laine Showroom. After years of tone on tone neutrals it is safe to say that color is back!
1. BONE AND MOTHER OF PEARL INLAYSBlack and white bone inlays are the hottest trend this season. There wasn’t a showroom with out a taste of this trendy new finish. If you are feeling bold give a bone chevron chest a whirl. Or what about this Bernhardt Interiors table? Now that’s work of art!
The next Highpoint market is only 5 months away - hopefully our legs will have recuperated and our cameras cooled off by then!
