Guatemala Here I Come!

It's time to rejoin my family in Guatemala - that is my good friends Paula and Fontaine Greene, founders of Catalyst Resources International. My daughter Riley and I will be leaving this Saturday for a much anticipated week of hard work and reward as we build another home for a deserving family in the village of Labor de Falla.

The memories of last year are still warm in our hearts....

We are sure to make lots of new friends (especially Riley).

We will also make time to visit some of our favorite spots like the beautiful and historic city of Antiqua.

Our family sponsors a spunky little girl named Allison. I can't wait to see her again and give her a big smooch. (We went out for ice cream together when I visited in November).

And of course, I will continue to help design the new orphanage with lots of great fabrics that I will be bringing with me!

But probably the greatest gift of this particular trip is helping two of my designer friends put a big CHECK MARK on their bucket list by leading them on a mission trip for the first time.

I met Melinda Headrick (Chathaminteriorsinc.com) in 2009 at a Business of Design conference in Las Vegas. We became instant friends (the soul sister kind). Even though she lives in a small town in Tennessee, we have stayed in touch. She will be joining me on this trip with her two kids.

I met my dear, sweet friend Pamela Copeman (pamelacopeman.com) at a Brizo Designer event in New York City last year (she lives outside Boston, MA). She 's the kind of person that looks deep in to your eyes when she talks to you and gives you her full attention.  Even though her father is very ill right now, he has encouraged her to follow her dream and make this journey.

It is my honor to lead these special woman to Guatemala. Their hearts are huge and their energy boundless. I am quite positive this will be the first trip of many for them.

Stay tuned for lots of photos and news upon my return!

Many blessings to you!
